We’ve all been through things. We’ve all needed a little help. Maybe it’s marriage trouble, or worries about a teenager. Maybe you’re struggling financially, or simply can’t get to sleep at night. There’s no judgement here. We’ve all had experience in the struggles of life. But life is a team sport, so let us join with you in prayer.
What is Prayer?
Prayer is the word we use to describe communicating with God. Like a lot of our own communication it can feel awkward and difficult at times. But, also like our own communication, praying is critical to building a relationship with the God of Heaven who loves us and sent Jesus Christ to die so we could live.
Here are some key truths to remember about prayer:
God wants us to pray, even if our lives are a mess.
But if from there you will seek the Lord your God, you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul. – Deuteronomy 4:29
God promises to respond when we ask to hear from Him.
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. – Matthew 7:7
God understands our struggles, because Jesus has walked a mile in our shoes.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin. – Hebrews 4:15
God gives mercy to those who come to him.
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. – Hebrews 4:16
